EUR 4.5 mil. investment for Wooden Churches Tour in Northern Transilvania

On July 5, Elena Udrea, Minister of Regional Development and Tourism, signed in Maramures county the financing contract supported by European funds to develop Wooden Churches Tour in Northern Transilvania, worth EUR 4,586,056, out of which EUR 3,157,439 are supported by the Regional Development European Fund.

The project envisages increasing the accessibility of wooden churches from Maramures region and developing the related infrastructure in the region.

The project was submitted within major domain of intervention 5.1 Restoration and sustainable exploitation of cultural heritage as well as creating / modernizing related infrastructure within Regional Operational Program through the partnership including Maramures County Council, 14 local public authorities and 16 churches.

The 26 months of project implementation will include developing 16 tourist information offices, parking on 6,777 sq m, 16 architectural lighting systems for churches, as well as 16 jobs.
