EUR 3.28 mil. will be invested in Sangeorz-Bai spa resort supported by European funds. The projects envisaged are rehabilitating the sewerage and water cleaning plant which will be completed within August, this year.
EUR 2.91 mil. are supported by non-reimbursable funds, while the rest of EUR 361,446 are supported by own sources, according to the information of Sangeorz-Bai city hall.
The representatives of the city hall consider the resort could benefit of other investments too, valued at EUR 9.64 mil. to rehabilitate tourism infrastructure, for up-grading treatment facilities, rehabilitating green areas, leisure facilities, relaxation and spa tourism as well as rehabilitating urban network.
In 2009, the number of tourists in the resort dropped 13% compared to 2008 down to 7,000 visitors. The difference is the result of the reduction of funds allocated from the state budget for retired persons and public administration employees, stated the city hall representatives.
