The Ministry for Transport and Infrastructure, MTI, will invest over EUR 2.5 mil. in the domestic arrivals terminal of Traian Vuia International Airport in Timisoara. The project will be completed within nine months from signing the contract and includes developing airport buildings. Project’s financing is supported by the state budget and the criterion for winning the contract is the lowest price. Companies interested to take part in the project need to have developed contracts of at least EUR 2.3 mil. until now. In the first four months of the current year, Traian Vuia International Airport in Timisoara registered an increased turnover by 13% compared to the result registered in 2008. Total revenues increased by 23%. Since the beginning of the year, 7,500 landings and take offs were registered on Traian Vuia International Airport, compared to 7,425 flights operated in the same period of 2008. Also, passengers’ traffic increased from 251,000 in the same period in 2008, up to over 252,000 passengers in the first four months of the year.
