EUR 150 mil. in modernizing air transport infrastructure in Romania

Add comment

Competition Council approved the state aid scheme of approximately EUR 150 mil. to financially support the modernizing and development of air transport infrastructure, which was initiated by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, to be implemented by the end of 2015, following the European authority approval. The funds are supported by the national budget as well as European funds.

The scheme creates a normative framework necessary to access non-reimbursable funds to maximum 14 D category airports, respectively airports with an annual traffic under 1 million passengers in order to build up, modernize and develop the air transport infrastructure.

The state aid scheme is set up in accordance with the Community guidelines on financing the airports and start-up aid for airlines having flights from regional airports.
