This year, investments of EUR 11.08 mil. will be completed in Busteni. The investments started in 2008 and include modernizing streets, setting up a parking, developing Kalinderu ski area and developing social dwellings.
EUR 6.98 mil. were allocated for road infrastructure and developing the parking, from the local budget and a bank loan, while for the development of Kalinderu ski area, EUR 2.17 will be invested, supported by funds from the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism. Furthermore, EUR 1.93 mil. have been allocated for developing the social dwellings from the local budget and the Government, according to the data provided by Busteni municipality.
The project to invest in Kalinderu ski area includes developing a ski slope for beginners, ensuring the necessary facilities for Kalinderu ski slope, purchasing a tent for events with an area of 600 sq m, as well as a timing device system for ski and ice escalade competitions.
In 2009, the number of tourists visiting Busteni resort for holiday dropped by 50%, down to 175,000 compared to 2008, according to the data of Busteni City Hall.
The economic crisis generated the decrease, but also the improvement of quality services in resorts surrounding Busteni resort, such as Sinaia, Azuga and Predeal, where investments in accommodation and leisure services in 4 and 5 star units have recently increased by 100%, stated the City Hall representatives.
