In the first semester of this year, the number of tourists registered in accommodation establishments in Sibiu county decreased by 22%, compared to the similar period in 2008 reaching 105,215 according to the data provided by County Direction of Statistics. 76.4% of the tourists are Romanians, while 23.6% are foreign tourists. In the same period, the arrivals of foreign tourists registered at accommodation establishments declined 27.8% compared to the same period in 2008, down to 24,802 persons. The main origin countries of foreign tourists are Germany - 37.8%, Austria - 7.4%, Italy - 7.4% and France - 6.4%. The hotels registered 71.2% out of the total number of visitors, while boarding and agri-tourist houses accounted for 14.1%. The number of overnight stays registered in the first semester was 160,754, declining 26.5% compared to the same period in 2008.
