Crowne Plaza is 25% under the budget in the first two months of the year, taking into consideration the impact of the international economic crisis on the hotel market. Pierre Boissel, general manager of Crowne Plaza, stated the unit achieved only 75% of the initial plan, but the budget on 2009 is slightly higher, by 3% compared to the last year’s budget.
Boissel considers that this year will be a hard one for hospitality industry, as the demand for hotel rooms changed and the supply increased significantly. However, the GM considers the situation will improve in 2010 or by the end of the current year.
Crowne Plaza hotel doesn’t plan to drop tariffs, planning to improve the quality of services at the current prices. Therefore, Pierre Boissel specified that the rooms were redecorated, facilities improved, including conference halls and a cooperation with a team of architects is being developed to rehabilitate the public spaces.
