Cluj-Napoca Airport has a new departures terminal

On May 15, the new departures terminal of Cluj-Napoca International Airport became operational. The necessary investment reached EUR 25.8 mil.

The new departures terminal lies on an area of 16,000 sq m, with a capacity of 750 passengers per hour, respectively 1.5 mil. passengers per year. The construction was completed within 2 years.

The investment is part of a development project of the airport, which also includes modernizing the exterior utilities network, expanding the embarked-debarked platform, modernizing the runway, carrying out studies and projects to develop a new 3,500 m runway and a cargo terminal.

The management of Cluj-Napoca International Airport announced that the investment to develop the new runway for taking off-landing of 3,500 m length reaches EUR 49 mil. The project will be financed by own sources of Cluj County Council and by the Sectoral Operational Program of Transport. The project is scheduled to start this year.

The management of Cluj-Napoca International Airport estimates that the number of passengers transiting the airport will reach 2,000,000 until 2013.
