This year, the municipality of Calimanesti - Caciulata envisages investments of EUR 17.6 mil. from European funds for modernizing spa tourism and leisure infrastructure, stated Mayor Ilie Amuzan. Within the project “Oltul mirage – expanding leisure tourism infrastructure of Calimanesti - Caciulata resort”, valued at EUR 8.1 mil., the municipality of Calimanesti will develop, in the area of Casa de Cultura, an Aqua Park with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fitness halls and sauna, sport and recreational park, located in the stadium area, as well as piers located on the Calimanesti artificial lake, so that tourists can take the boats between Calimanesti and Cozia.
Another project of the City hall for the current year, valued at EUR 6.1 mil., envisages rehabilitating and modernizing the spa parks near the springs from Calimanesti and Caciulata. The third investment program reaches EUR 3.15 mil. and includes expanding and modernizing the Calimanesti Highschool for Services, upgrading accommodation facilities for students, cafeteria and school workshop, as well as developing a gym hall and studios for teachers.
Furthermore, the authorities in Calimanesti - Caciulata resort plan to invest approximately EUR 14 mil. to develop a gondola and a ski slope on the northern side of Cozia mountain. The gondola will link Turnu Holly Monastery and Cozia Mountain, with a turning point at Stanisoara Holly Monastery.
The feasibility study has been recently completed. The city hall plans to apply for European funds to sustain the investments.
Moreover, Calimanesti city hall plans to develop a swearge and cleaning system of waste water in the city, requiring an investment of EUR 7 mil.
Not least, Oltenia Nord Convention and Exhibitions Center will be completed this mid-year. EUR 10 mil. from own sources and state budget and Phare funds were allocated to develop the center. The project includes 5 pavilions for exhibitions, symposiums and congresses.
