Bucharest to be promoted as tourist destination

The Ministry of Tourism initiates a new project to promote the capital as a tourist destination. Therefore, it signed a partnership with Bucharest City Hall to develop the project entitled Tourist in Bucharest, announced Elena Udrea, the Minister for Tourism.

The Minister stated that Bucharest faces a decreasing occupancy rate in hotels and also in tourists’ number. Thus, being aware of the fact Bucharest is a destination for business tourism, which is affected by the economic crisis, it was decided to promote the project together with the local authorities and partners from private sector.

The partnership implies that local authorities and private partners should hold events, which will be promoted by the Ministry.

The project is part of the campaign Tourist in Romania which will take place between August 1 and December 25, 2009. The Ministry will spend EUR 946,370 on this campaign.
