In 2008, Aurel Vlaicu - Baneasa International Airport registered an absolute record of passengers’ traffic since it was set up in 1923, having approximately 1.8 mil. of transported passengers, stated the airport’s manager, Stefan Mladin. Thus, the number of passengers using Baneasa Airport in 2008 increased by 80% compared to 2007. Baneasa Airport is the main hub for low-cost airline transport in Romania. Blue Air, Wizz Air, Sky Europe, MyAir and GermanWings are major market players operating on this airport.
