Bucharest: MICE segment will expand this year

Add comment

Although the number of business tourists in Bucharest has been decreasing since end 2008, due to the worldwide economic crisis, MICE tourism is expected to keep expanding this year.

The short holidays might also register an increase, if the tourism packages for this segment are advantageous, specified the representatives of the National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT).

Some hotel owners announced that they intend to focus more on attracting tourists for weekend city breaks in Bucharest.

The ANAT representatives consider that a short-term promotion of the capital will not determine a significant increase of tourists on this segment, Bucharest being a business destination, rather than a holidays one. However, with a long-term promotion, the leisure segment is likely to register significant growth in a couple of years.
