Bucharest: 5 star hotels rates dropped 27% compared to 2008

The average tariff for a double room reserved at a 5 star hotel’s reception in Bucharest dropped 27% in 2009 compared to 2008, down to approximately EUR 160 per night, according to a survey of CaptainGO booking system, which includes over 600 hotels all over the country. The tariff of 5 star hotels outside Bucharest dropped 16%, from EUR 119 down to EUR 99 in 2009.

The average tariff at 4 star hotels in Bucharest for double room was EUR 160 in 2008 with booking at reception desk, while this year it decreased by 25% down to EUR 120. 4 star units outside Bucharest registered an average rate per double room of EUR 76 in 2008, compared to EUR 59 in 2009, representing a 22% fall.

3 star hotels in the capital registered an average tariff of EUR 120 in 2008. In 2009, the rates dropped 29%, down to EUR 95. Outside Bucharest, rates decreased on average by 8%, from EUR 38 in 2008 down to EUR 35 in 2009.

Tariff per double room at a 2 star hotel in Bucharest dropped from EUR 63 in 2008 down to EUR 56 in 2009. Outside Bucharest, the 2 star segment registered an average fall of 8% in 2009 compared to 2008, from EUR 35 down to EUR 32.
