Brasov: 23,961 foreign guests in the first five months

In the first five months of the year, the number of foreign tourists visiting Brasov county was by a third lower than compared to the same period last year, respectively 23,961 foreign tourists. The decrease follows 8 years of continuous tourism growth in the county.

Thus, 326,366 tourists were accommodated in Brasov county in 2003. The number reached 581,983 last year but the foreign tourists continued to account for only 17.45% last year, which was 101,561 tourists.

All these years, most of tourists arrived in Brasov were Germans but also tourists from Israel, Italy, Great Britain, USA, France or Spain.

During the specified period, the main hot spot of the county was Brasov city and Poiana Brasov mountain resort, which attracted 80,510 Romanian tourists and 18,965 foreign tourists in the first five months of the current year, accounting for 47% of the total number of tourists accommodated in Brasov county.
The second area important for tourism in the county was Predeal resort, visited by 45,896 tourists, accounting for 26% of the total number of tourists arrived in the county in 2009.

Bran – Moeciu region attracted 17,424 Romanian tourists and 1,103 foreign tourists, representing only 10.9% in the total number of arrivals in Brasov county.
