The low occupancy of several boarding houses in tourism areas, which used to register a great number of tourists in the past years, made the owners close their units. Websites are invaded with selling announcements of boarding houses. Constraint by the economic crisis, the owners decided to put on sale the boarding houses, hoping to save at least a part, if not all the money invested in these businesses. Furthermore, hotels and restaurants are also put on sale. According to the data of the National Trade Register Office, ONRC, the number of boarding houses, hotels and restaurants facing insolvency nationally in 2009 is 70% higher compared to the same period last year. At the ame time, the number of new companies registered at the Trade Office decreased from 3,538 units in 2008 down to 781 this year.
