Construction works for the new departures terminal of Aurel Vlaicu International Airport, Baneasa will start this spring and will be completed within 8 months.
The EUR 9.5 mil. investment will be supported by the low-cost company Blue Air. Gheorghe Racaru general manager of Blue Air company foresees that once the new terminal opens, the flying capacity will exceed 600 passengers per hour.
Moreover, Blue Air will invest other EUR 45 mil. in Bacau Airport in order to develop the take off - landing runway, expanding platforms to provide the necessary space to park and handle the aircrafts on ground, developing a new terminal as well as improving the handling system for luggage at departures and arrivals, developing a new runway and access ways and more.
For the current year, Blue Air estimates a EUR 150 mil. turnover and plans to transport approximately 1.5 mil. passengers.
In January, the operator transported 75,000 passengers, 8,000 more than in the first month of 2008.
