Blue Air low-cost airline forecasts EUR 25 mil. revenues during summer season for the new operational base in Cyprus, opened at Larnaca, in March 2010, accounting for 9% of the total turnover of the company, estimated at EUR 200-220 mil. for the current year. The airline operator performs flights from Larnaca towards Bucharest, Milan, Vienna and Warsaw, planning to introduce charter flights towards several external destinations.
In 2009, Blue Air covered 65% of the flights on Romania - Cyprus route. For the current year, the company estimates 75% occupancy and 160,000 transported passengers on flights from Larnaca.
In Romania, the company plans to sign partnerships with Romanian hotel owners, in order to launch packages including transport by plane and accommodation. Moreover, Blue Air plans to operate under new code share partnerships, such as the one signed with Blue Panorama company, which allows the passengers of the Romanian operator to buy tickets for destinations outside Europe.
Blue Air operates on over 50 European routes in 14 countries, with a fleet of 14 aircrafts, ten Boeing 737 and four SAAB 340.
