Baneasa airport: turnover 47.61% higher in the first eight months

In the first eight months of this year, Aurel Vlaicu - Baneasa International Airport reported a turnover of EUR 14.7 mil., increasing by 47.61% compared to the similar period last year and EUR 8.5 mil. profit, 32.45% higher, stated the General Manager of the airport, George Mihalcea.

1,361,000 passengers transited the airport in the same period, 16% more than compared to the same period of 2008.

The number of movements of commercial aircrafts in the first eight months of the year reached 18,300, increasing by 13.7% compared to the same period in 2008, when they reached 16,093.

Referring to the expanding of Aurel Vlaicu Baneasa Airport in Bucharest, Mihalcea specified that there are ongoing works at the departures terminal in C pavilion, where currently UPC has offices.

Mihalcea stated that the airport’s representatives are currently developing the pre-feasibility study for modernizing and increasing the capacity through the transfer of departures terminal into pavilion C and the works will start probably on January 15, 2010.
