In April this year, the number of arrivals and overnight stays in accommodation facilities increased by 5% compared to the same period in 2009, up to 412,300 and respectively by 6.2%, up to 958,700, according to the data provided by National Institute of Statistics, INS.
Arrivals of Romanian tourists in accommodation facilities accounted for 77.1% in April out of the total, 22.9% representing foreign tourists.
The hotels accounted for 76.4% from the total number of arrivals in accommodation facilities in the period, increasing by 7.2% compared to April 2009.
The overnight stays of Romanian tourists in accommodation establishments represented 80% in April out of the total, while the overnight stays of foreign tourists represented 20%.
The net occupancy of bed places was of 20.7% on the total accommodation facilities, declining 0.4% compared to the similar month last year. Higher occupancy was reported in April by accommodation on ships – 74.6% and inns – 42.5%.
Arrivals of foreign visitors in Romania reported at border crossing points in April 2010 decline 1.8% compared to the same period last year, down to 586,700. Most foreign visitors came from countries in Europe, respectively 95.3%. 61.6% of the total number foreign tourist arrivals in Romania came from EU member states. Hungary ranks first – 41.7%, followed by Bulgaria with 18.3%, Germany – 8.4%, Italy – 7.3% and Austria – 4.1%.
The departures of Romanian tourists abroad, registered at border crossing points, declined 0.8% compared to April 2009, down to 923,400.
Romanian tourists leaving abroad chose mostly road transport, representing 76% of the total number of departures.
In the first four months of the year, arrivals reported in accommodation facilities cumulated 1,405,300, declining 3.5% compared to the same period in 2009.
The arrivals of Romanian tourists in accommodation facilities represented 77.4% of the total number of arrivals from January to April, while foreign tourists represented 22.6% of the total.
Arrivals in hotels accounted for 76.3% of the total arrivals in accommodation facilities, falling 0.6% compared to the same period in 2009.
Overnight stays in accommodation facilities in the first four months of the current year cumulated 3,007,600, declining 5.5% compared to the same period last year. Out of the total number of overnight stays, Romanian tourists represented 78.4% while foreign tourists represented 21.6%.
The net occupancy of bed places posted for January – April period was 18% on the total accommodation facilities, declining 1.6% compared to the similar period in 2009. Higher occupancy was registered by ships – 74.6% and inns – 40.1%.
Arrivals of foreign tourists in Romania registered at border crossing points declined 3.3% in the first four months of 2010, down to 2,014,100.
The departures of Romanian tourists abroad, registered at border crossing points declined 4.9% compared to the first four months of 2009, down to 3,363,100.
