Accor hotel group is currently negotiating the opening of a Novotel hotel in Timisoara, which could be developed in partnership with another investor.
Bruno Vinette, General Manager of Pullman Bucharest World Trade Center, the former Sofitel Hotel, stated that Accor company already owns the land to develop the Novotel hotel in Timisoara. The hotel could become operational within 2 years.
Brasov and Cluj are two other cities in Romania envisaged by Accor chain to expand. In Brasov, the company considers developing a Novotel as well as an Ibis or Etap hotel.
Pullman hotel in Bucharest registered a turnover of EUR 9 mil. in 2008, decreasing compared to 2007, when the turnover was of EUR 9.3 mil.
Bruno Vinette stated that the hotel budgeted for this year the same turnover as in 2008 but it is not likely to happen. In January, the hotel registered a decrease by 30% of revenues compared to the same period in 2007. The occupancy rate was 44%, said Vinette, who considers market conditions will improve in March.
The foreseen occupancy rate for 2009 is 68%, compared to 70% a year before.
In order to affiliate the hotel to Pullman brand, several investments have been made in upgrading the rooms. Moreover, this year a new restaurant will open and the conference center will be renewed.
