According to the data provided by the National Institute for Statistics (INS), the arrivals registered in the first ten months in 2008 in accommodation establishments totalized 6 mil. tourists, 3.7% higher compared to the same period in 2007. 78.9% of the total arrivals were Romanian tourists while 21.1% were foreign tourists.
Arrivals in hotels account for 73.8% of the total number of arrivals in accommodation facilities in the analyzed period.
Overnight stays in accommodation facilities registered approximately 18 mil. tourists, 1.4% higher compared to the same period in 2007. 83.6% of the total were Romanians and 16.4%, foreigners.
In October, the number of arrivals in accommodation facilities increased by 3.3% compared to the similar period last year, up to 600,000 tourists. The number of Romanian tourists in accommodation facilities accounted for 77.9% in the total number of arrivals, while foreigners registered 22.1%.
Arrivals in hotels in October accounted for 75.5% of the total arrivals in accommodation establishments.
Overnight stays in October numbered 1.6 mil. tourists, 4.5% more than in October 2007. 82.6% of the total were Romanians, while the rest of 17.4% were foreign tourists. At border crossing points in October, the arrivals of foreign tourists in Romania registered over 700,000, 5.8% higher than in October 2007. Departures of Romanians visitors abroad were of 1 mil., 18.3% higher than in October 2007.
