According to the data provided by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the number of tourists in accommodation units increased by 2.9% in the first 11 months of 2008, up to 6.7 mil., of which roundly 21% were foreigners.
The arrivals of Romanian tourists in accommodation units represented 79.1% of the total arrivals, while foreign tourists accounted for 20.9%.
Hotels rank first in the top of accommodation facilities, accounting for 73.9% of the total arrivals. The number of arrivals in hotels increased by 1.3% compared to January – November 2007.
In the same period, the departures at border registered 12.17 mil., 20.9% higher that the previous year.
