According to a study of Net Worth Advisory business Consultancy Company, carried out together with National Association of Travel Agencies, ANAT, almost 4,000 Romanians chose holidays on cruise ships in 2008. The revenues generated from this holidays in 2008 account for EUR 3 mil., double than the value registered last year.
The most attractive destinations were the Caribbean and the Mediterranean ones.
In Europe, the total number of tourists for cruises is over 5 millions, out of which 34% are British, 19% Germans, 16% Italians, 13% Spanish, 7% French, while Romanians are bellow 1%, according to the Annual Cruise Holiday Market Digest UK & Europe 2008 study, quoted by Net Worth Advisory.
Luciana Petrescu, General Manager of the Net Worth Advisory consultancy company, estimates an increase by 40-50% for cruises holidays this year and also an increase of revenues up to EUR 4.5 mil.
