A new spa resort in Oradea

The authorities from Oradea plan to rejuvenate tourism in Oradea city. One of the solutions is to set up a spa resort as Oradea benefits of geothermal water resources.

The future resort will lie from Continental Hotel, comprising Bratianu Park, Calipso Hotel, the Olympic Pool, Covered Pool, Municipal swimming pool, Mecena Foundation’s buildings, Tera Hotel, Magico Entertainment Center, continuing with campsite area near the railway bridge on Dragos Voda Street.

The spa resort was designed around Municipal swimming pool, where the authorities have in view a modernizing plan, similar to the swimming pools model in Hajduszoboszlo and Debrecen, Hungary.

Thus, the swimming pool will have water runways both for children and adults, wellness center, small pool with Jacuzzi and two piers with access to the channel of Crisul Repede river.

Moreover, a covered terrace will be developed to play indoor sports like bowling, billiard, backgammon, stated Marcel Bolos, Manager of Sustainable Development, External Financing Department within Oradea City Hall.

Marcel Bolos stated that the authorities will submit to governmental approval the proposal of classifying the area as spa resort which could allow access to non-reimbursable European funds.

The first phase of the project includes the improvement of Municipal swimming pool, requiring EUR 15 mil. investment. The second phase envisages rehabilitating the camp site area, while the final phase of developing private investments around Tera Hotel area will cost approximately EUR 30 mil.
